CITAM Kiserian Children Centre

Background Information

NPC (CITAM) Children Centre was established by the leadership of Christ is the Answer Ministries in 1995 as a response to the felt need of the alarmingly growing number of destitute vulnerable children in Nairobi, Kenya.

Since its inception, CITAM Children’s Centre has been a transitional shelter for over 590 orphans and vulnerable children. Through the rehabilitation programme the lives of these children have been transformed though the sharing of the word of God, education sponsorship, psychological counseling, medical treatment, food and nutrition and provision of care and protection from violation of their human rights.

The Centre is committed to rehabilitate the rescued children to lead victorious lives based on Christian values that positively impact society with a motto “Changed to Change”.

Our services:

  • Care and protection: We rescue, rehabilitate, provide shelter, health care, food and a safe haven to orphans and vulnerable children.
  • Chaplaincy: headed by a full time Chaplain to provide spiritual nurture.
  • Education:  It is one of our key strategies for rehabilitation. We have a registered school that runs up to class eight to cater education needs for the children in primary school. Upon graduation from primary school and re-integration with their families, the children are supported through a sponsorship programme to pursue high school and higher education.
  • Skills Development: The Centre teaches the children basic life skills as they undergo rehabilitation to prepare them for re-integration. Those students who don’t qualify to join universities or tertiary colleges are also supported to join polytechnics to acquire vocational skills such as; Building and Construction, Food and Beverage production, Motor vehicle mechanics, Tailoring, dressmaking, carpentry, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy.
  • Guidance and counselling:  to address the psycho-social needs of the children and parents.
  • Parental Education: to build the capacity the caregivers to care for their children.
